Sewing Bootcamp For Beginners: All Day Sewing Camp & Tote Bag Project

April 25, 2020 11:00 AM

Doors Open: 10:45 AM
In our most popular sewing class, we elaborate on some elements covered in Sewing 101, add in some advanced skills (what are all these knobs/dials/attachments for?!?), and include a few fun projects to help you get some practice! Learn basic sewing skills including how to cut fabric, use a simple pattern, perform a few different stitches, as well as the ins and outs of fabric and fabric grain, proper cutting techniques. You will also learn how to operate a sewing machine. You will walk out having finished several simple projects including, drawstrings, pockets, buttonholes, buttons, hidden zippers, and finally, a tote bag (Perfect for that SF 10-cent bag ordinance and a great simple first project that won't terrify you!) All of these are handy skills for basic garment construction. This is an intensive class that will last all day with a 30-minute lunch break, so show up alert and leave the hangovers at home. After all, this is bootcamp guys!

Supplies Needed: None. We supply all fabric. Also, You'll be using a simple Janome 2212. Please do not bring your own machine.

Instructor Bio: Hayley has been sewing since the tender age of three. Past works include quilts, fabric taxidermy, clothing, stuffed animals, upholstery, backpacks and bags, home goods, motorcycle tool rolls, and just about anything else under the sun!
