Mike Betancourt, Mike Glatzmeier and Howie Nave
Mike Betancourt is Intense. Energetic. Animated. Outrageous. These are just a few of the words that describe multi-faceted performer and creator Mike Betancourt, the comedian, actor, writer and producer. As a comedian, Mike tears up stages all around the nation and creates new fans wherever he goes. He has a colossal personality that instantly connects to the audience, is often described as a “force of nature”, and uses his wide array of voices and characters to command the crowd’s riveted and delighted attention. Mike delves into twisted and controversial topics boldly, using his charm to make them entertaining and hysterical. As an actor, Mike’s work ranges from comedy to drama to horror and more, and he’s been seen on commercials, television shows and films – both feature and short. His works include Mamaboy (feature film starring Gary Busey and Tom Toblowsky), Love Rules (short film for which he won 2014 Best Supporting Actor), Don't Shoot! I'm The Guitar Man. (Directed by Rocky Capella,) The Day I Almost Died (Discovery Life Channel), Good Day Sacramento, Comedy Time TV, Laughs TV. As a writer and producer, Mike brings the same passion and dedication that he does to his performance work, and the short film Evelyn that he produced won the Audience Choice award at the Life Fest Film Festival.
Howie Nave didn’t start out doing traditional stand up. His first national exposure came ala The Dr. Demento Show sending in his original, off-the-wall comedy songs (“Weird Al” Yankovic first came to prominence also through the Dr. Demento Show doing his parody songs). You might remember some of Howie’s original compositions that included “Your Father Was Once my Mother,” “I was Born the Wrong Religion all Because of Circumcision,” “I Want a Part Time Girl for Christmas” and “It’s Hard to be a Jewish Cowboy When You Want to Date a Country Girl” all from his CD, ‘I Can’t Believe I Sang That.’ Howie started opening for some pretty impressive artists that included Johnny Cash, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, “Weird Al” and Robin Williams. When Howie started doing comedy clubs he decided to keep the acoustic in his act as folks seemed to enjoy the variety of both his stand up with his original and parody comedic songs as well. When Howie moved to Lake Tahoe being the host/emcee of The Improv Comedy Club which introduced him to even more major headliners. Soon after he was given his own radio show, ‘Howie’s Morning Rush’ on Tahoe’s KRLT 93.9FM. When ever anyone came to Lake Tahoe to perform they all went on Howie’s show. That included singer/actor Michael Crawford (Phantom of the Opera), Oscar winning actors Jeff Bridges, Morgan Freeman, the late great blues legend Bo Diddley and George Thorogood. Howie’s comedy includes a lot of observational material. As Howie puts it, “Man, if ever there was a time to laugh NOW is that time.” Howie’s been on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and did two USO tours entertaining our troops in Iraq and Kuwait.
Michael Glatzmaier is a musical comedian who creates songs on the spot mixed with stand up comedy. Michael has toured internationally performing his musical comedy show in the US, Canada and Europe in theatres, comedy clubs and festivals like SFIT and bumbershoot. His musical comedy show takes unique and unexpected suggestions and turns them into improvised songs on the spot. Michael has an album online called Mostly Improvised and recently released his comedy special, I make stuff up on Dry Bar!
