The Winter's Tale

By William Shakespeare

Hollace Starr, Director

It is winter in Sicilia, but King Leontes is overcome by a searing hot rage when he accuses his beloved queen Hermione and his close boyhood friend Polixenes of infidelity. Unwilling to be reasoned with, Leontes sets out on a course of retribution that will not see its end until he has erased all traces of everyone he holds dear. Only the passage of time and the flowering of spring can restore the promise of hope to this superb example of Shakespeare’s late romances.  The Winter’s Tale reveals both the susceptibility of the human mind to fearful fantasy as well as the abiding power of the human heart to forgive even those who have caused great harm.

Warning: Though this play may be appropriate for young audience members, it does contain mature themes and strong (albeit Shakespearean) language.

Join a talk back with the actors and director after the Wednesday, April 6 performance.
