From its roots in New Orleans across the United States and through time, the incredibly talented Minnesota Jazz Orchestra will trace the History of Big Band Jazz…from the late 1920s all the way up to the present. The acclaimed Minnesota Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Craig Thrane, began in the late ‘90s. MJO is full-size big band with 16 instrumentalists and outstanding vocals. The members of this entertaining ensemble include proven professionals with miles of road experience. They mix some audience participation and a little comedy along with tons of musicality to create a show that is a totally enjoyable and unforgettable experience. You’ll hear swinging selections like Louis Armstrong’s “Basin Street Blues”, Duke Ellington’s “Mood Indigo”, Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Serenade”, Dean Martin’s “You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You”, Louis Prima’s “Jump, Jive & Wail”, Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable”, Harry Connick Jr “It Had to Be You”, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s “Wanna Be Like You”, and more. Gregg Marquardt serves as Master of Ceremonies. Gregg along with Debbie O’Keefe, Reeves Cary, and Paula Lammers are featured vocalists with the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra. Don’t miss this highly entertaining group at the Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center.
