Seductive, distinctly modern take on roots, blues and soul With sultry. mesmerizing vo-cals, engaging songwriting talent, and fiery slide guitar work, Kara Grainger boasts an impressive set of skills. This Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist may evoke com-parisons to Bonnie Raitt, but she bears a style all her own, a relentlessly seductive, dis-tinctly modern take on roots, blues and soul music.
In 2008 Kara released her debut solo recording " Grand and Green River". Co produced in the US with David Kalish (Rickie Lee Jones, Los Lobos, Jason Mraz), the album stayed in the top 30 of the Americana Charts for 38 straight weeks. Two further albums have fol-lowed: ”LA Blues", performed live at Studio City Sound, and 2013's "Shiver and Sigh", pro-duced by Grammy-Award-winning producer David Z.
Kara has extensively toured internationally. She's performed at the Jakarta International Blues Festival, toured Japan with "The Swampers and Donnie Fritts”, and taken her band to Switzerland for the Lucerne Blues Festival and the The Sierre Blues Festival’. She also has toured in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, France, India and Spain.
In the US, Kara has performed at The Portland Waterfront Blues Festival, Blues from the Top in Colorado and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
She has also opened for many extraordinary acts such as Peter Frampton, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal and Jonny Lang to name a few.
