“Imagine. Gather. Create” is not just the theme for the Feastival at Draper Mercantile on June 16 but an apt description of the Draper, Virginia, community and the role of Draper Mercantile in its revitalization. Housed in a vintage (c. 1885) general store building, the “Merc,” as it is affectionately called by locals, has fostered new ventures in the small community on the New River Trail. One local leader called the Mercantile “a conduit for encouragement.” The Mercantile encompasses a farm-to-table café, with a stage for live music, numerous quaint shops for unusual merchandise, outlets for hiking and biking gear, and much more in a beautiful rural setting. The Feastival will feature a cocktail hour and dinner designed by the Mercantile’s culinary director, Chef Torrece Gregoire, known as Chef T, a finalist in Season 14 of Gordon Ramsey’s popular TV show Hell’s Kitchen. Chef T, with roots in the Caribbean, riffs on the West African influences on Appalachian food for her exciting and innovative five-course Feastival spin on mountain food traditions. The best of old-time music will be provided by Canadian-born fiddler Erynn Marshall and multi-instrumentalist Carl Jones, both of Galax, Virginia. Come dream, imagine, and gather with us for a stimulating summer evening at the Draper Mercantile! ~~~~ This Feastival will be held at Draper Mercantile. Feastivals sponsored by Blue Ridge Beverage. ~~~~ The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming is made possible by the support of the
