WHAT IS EDD SUMMITS?
Administered by 501c3 Power is Giving, Inc., Eat Drink Disrupt (EDD) Summit is a 1/2 day, BIPOC-led, 100% whole food, plant-based (WFPB)/vegan clinical, culinary wellness equity program designed to radicalize wellness through teaching, tasting and the presentation of evidence-based health & equity solutions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
With a focus on prevention, arrest & reversal, our 3 double & triple board-certified clinicians: Milton Mills, MD (Washington, DC), Marsha Gail Davis, MD (Atlanta, GA) and Cliff Morris, MD, FACC (Cardiologist-Richmond, Va) will address cardiovascular disease, cancer & kidney disease interventions and the benefits of a WFPB lifestyle.
FREE WFPB/VEGAN FOOD
You’ll receive color-coded tickets to exchange at our five WFPB/vegan tasting stations
- Inspired station: Asian vegan salmon skewers & vegan kimchi purple cabbage slaw
- Soulful station: Vegan Creole Red Beans and Smokin’ Collards
- Brunch station: Savory Vegan Mushroom Shrymp & Grits w/ roasted tomato & aromatics reduction sauce
- Island station: Curried Chickpeas w/herbed black rice
- Hydration station: Agave-sweetened, low glycemic Hibiscus Lavender Punch and water
A MODERATED PANEL
We will present a 4 person moderated panel on: Food Apartheid; Challenges & Solutions
CHEF COOKING DEMOS
Two WFPB/vegan cooking demos will be presented by award-winning BIPOC chefs, Artina Lindsey (Spartanburg, SC) & GW Chew (Oakland, CA)
ASK-AN-EXPERT STATIONS
Our Ask-A-Doc/Expert station, will include 2 physicians, a registered dietitian, a financial wellness pro and a dula/vegan mom pro
SWAG & RAFFLES
A tote bag loaded with a clinically-endorsed vegan cookbook by Beyoncé-supported founder/author, Dawn Hilton-Williams, evidence-based wellness literature and a raffle ticket for hourly giveaways!
VENDORS
Our selected BIPOC vendors will present only vegan products and services and have paid no table or vendor fees to participate. All ally-partners are committed to equity/wellness and all BIPOC tasting station chefs are provided an honorarium for their time and have paid no fees.
LOCATION & PARKING
Directly across the street from the Memorial stadium, Parr Center at CPCC is located in Charlotte at 1201 Elizabeth Avenue. Ample event parking is conveniently located & free at lots 5 & 6; same address).
NET PROCEEDS
100% of all net proceeds from EDD Summits are used to fund Power is Givings’ free year-round programs.
