Helping to spearhead a revival of neo-psychedelic pop, California's Sugar Candy Mountain fuses sunny, retro sounds with lush, sophisticated composition. Blending classic '60s West Coast psychedelia with pastoral folk and pulling inspiration from pop experimentalists and Brazilian Tropicalia. Their latest album "Do Right" takes a more modern approach layering vibrant synths alongside more organic instrumentation. Oscillating between the hazy psychedelic pop of Mild High Club, the driving energy of Tame Impala and the danceable familiarity of The Supremes, the band is a perfect cocktail of old and new, imploring the listener to take a ride into the sunset with Sugar Candy Mountain.
Opening for Sugar Candy Mountain will be Mae Powell. Mae Powell is a singer and songwriter based in San Francisco, CA. She began frequenting bay area venues in 2019 with her full band, Mayya Feygina (of Mayya) on bass, and Sam Jones on drums (it's since grown to a five-piece.) The songs on Mae Powell’s debut album, Both Ways Brighter, are openhearted suggestions to experience the transformative power of relationships. The lyrics invite us to dissolve the boundaries between self and other and slip into the bliss of universal connection. “I come from a perspective that’s pretty cosmic,” Powell said. “The vibrations of a love song can heal us. When you’re in a state of deep love, you are the love, as well as the loved one.” The album is a celebration of life and friendship and love as well as an homage to past-selves. She writes music for the moon and is on a mission to spread love and magick across all dimensions. Mae Powell loves you!
