Invention of Wings: The Grimke Sisters of Charleston •Oct. 4• 10 a.m.
Based on the novel "Invention of Wings" by Sue Monk Kidd, this tour walks the path of the Grimke sisters and re-creates life in Charleston for both whites and blacks during the 1800s. This tour will show you highlights from the book, divulge untold stories and complete the tale of the Grimke sisters and how these two women shaped future generations. Local licensed City of Charleston tour guides Carol Ezell and Lee Ann Bain will lead this morning walking tour. Meet at 147 King St. and wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour lasts approximately two and one half hours. Note: MORNING TOURS ARE EXTERIOR ONLY. No property interiors will be included. Tours begin at 10 a.m. at 147 King Street.
