The study of ancient Egyptian mummies in museum collections has changed significantly since the early 20th century. Using Penn Museum case studies of human and animal mummies, conservator Molly Gleeson discusses how careful examination and treatment, collaborative research, and the use of new technologies have revealed new information about mummies and enabled conservators to stabilize and protect them for future display.
