The Cabin Project on the Portland Music Stream - ARCHIVED
November 7, 2020
7:00 PM
THIS IS AN ARCHIVED SHOW FROM THE PORTLAND MUSIC STREAM
The Cabin Project, made up of four Portland-based women, is an indie rock band whose sound stems from haunting choruses, two-part harmonies, pedals, synths and string sections. The Cabin Project's newest album, "Decenter", emerged out of shifting political times and an urgency to call upon the complicated stories weave our lives together.
Born in an attic "cabin" studio lined with Douglas Fir, the band started as a project of Katie Sawicki, a former-folksinger from Brooklyn. After moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2008, Sawicki sought out musicians to collaborate with, leading her to musical partner Zanny Geffel, an orchestral drummer, rooted in jazz and percussion. Jean Mastaler and Kelly Clifton create the band’s strings and bass section.
