Charlotte Ballet
Doors Open: 12:30 PM
Charlotte Ballet is excited to present three contemporary ballets at the Cain Center for the Arts this spring.
Experience the choreographic excellence of world renowned choreographer Jennifer Archibald in her new piece HdrM, which was created for Charlotte Ballet in 2023 for their Innovative Works series.
Also on the program is Artistic Director Alejandro Cerrudo’s Silent Ghost, a piece that originally premiered in 2015 at Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. In a review of the world premiere, The Stranger said, "Alejandro Cerrudo contrasts the early morning vibes of the piece with fast-paced, rhythmic, athletic movement that keeps the heart racing and the eye engaged." Charlotte Ballet is excited to bring their Artistic Director’s choreography to Cornelius for the first time.
Rounding out the program, Charlotte Ballet will also present Under the Lights, choreographed by Charlotte Ballet II Director Christopher Stuart and set to the music of the iconic Johnny Cash. Under the Lights is a tribute to the life and legacy of “The Man in Black” and his beloved June Carter Cash. ArtsNash called this ballet a “seamless blend of classical, modern and popular dance styles”.
