Banda Cuisillos is made up of a large number of talented musicians and is known for its romantic Mexican style of music, as well a for the elaborate Native American costumes the members wear during live performances. The group recorded its debut album, Tengo una Novia, in 1995. Over the next six years, the popular group finished several more full-length recordings, working under both the Musart and Polygram Records labels. Their popularity grew as they shifted their sound by integrating electric instruments into their traditional sound, and in 2000, Hasta la Eternidad turned platinum. They received a Latin Grammy award for their next album, Pura Rancheras, in 2001. Nuevos Horizontes followed up three months later, and Homenaje a Joan Sebastian followed in June 2002. After that, the group released five discs over the next three years and toured heavily.
Regional Mexican/Tejano artist El Coyote formed Tierra Santa in 1997 and soon began recording El Coyote y Su Banda Tierra Santa's debut album, Aquí Me Quedaré, followed by 1998's Concedeme. In 1999, the group started touring Mexico and the U.S. to promote El Amo and Profundamente, successfully performing live for thousands of Mexican music fans. El Coyote and his ensemble returned with Te Soñé in 2000, Cuando Regreso a Tus Brazos in 2001, and Puras Ranchera and El Amor No Tiene Edad in 2002. The band's rural sensibility continued throughout the reminder of its EMI tenure, which included the albums El Rancho Grande (2003), with its widely acclaimed video for the single "Alla el Rancho Grande," and Si Te Vuelves a Enamorar (2004).
The band signed to Fonovisa in 2005 and released Suspiros, whose title track was a hit single. As their career progressed, they began playing more corridos, which grew popular Sinaloa, though their approach remained strictly traditional. The group went on to record three more albums until they left Fonovisa in 2009.
