In this class, textile artist and natural dyeing instructor Kristin Arzt will introduce you to the beautiful art of bundle dyeing with plants! Gain an understanding of how to work with natural dyes as you explore and practice this process using fresh and dried flowers, food waste, bugs, trees and more! You ll have a chance to try the bundle dyeing process on a few different types of fabric, including silk and cotton. Each student will learn how to place the dyestuffs, wrap the fabric and steam the bundle on a stove top. Curious how a certain plant or flower may look when bundle-dyed? Bring it in and try it!! Each student will leave with their own batch of bundle-dyed fabric samples (2), one bundle-dyed pillow case, one cotton zipper pouch and one bundle-dyed silk scarf.
Supplies Needed: None. All fabric, plants, and other necessary materials will be provided. You are welcome (and encouraged) to bring in your own plants to try dyeing with, but it is not required.
