Día de los Muertos is not, as is commonly thought, a Mexican version of Halloween, though the two holidays do share some traditions, including costumes and parades. On the Day of the Dead, it’s believed that the border between the spirit world and the real-world dissolve. Through music, dance, food, and fun, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, South Bend Civic Theater, St. Joe County Public Library, Indiana University South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center, La Casa de Amistad, South Bend Community School Corporation, and Morris Performing Arts Center join forces to bring all of South Bend together to celebrate this important cultural holiday.
This concert will feature mariachi opera singer, Vanessa Alonzo; traditional Mexican Trio, Trio Chapultepec; as well as the South Bend Symphony Orchestra – all performing together on the Morris Mainstage!
