LUNACY (9:45 PM)
LUNACY is a dystopian shadow figure located in Rural Pennsylvania— a character set in the empty corroded future focusing on themes of loneliness, emptiness & mental illness. A character that often fits the description of late ‘80s & early ‘90s post-apocalyptic films.
Echo In The Memory marks a new chapter for LUNACY’s sonic annihilation centered around trying to rebuild a world that no longer exists. Previous works have been recorded on a 4- track Tascam Portastudio using various analog single unit drum machines, guitar, bass and synths. On this upcoming release the recording process has changed quite a bit. Echo In the Memory was recorded on an Otari Broadcast MX50/50 - a 4 track ¼ inch tape machine brought back to life by Sean Hur. All backing tracks, drum samples & loops were produced on an all black MPC1000 except, “Fragmented Pulse” which used the classic DR-55 with an 8/12 bitcrusher fuzz pedal handmade by Kyle Reiff. Both analog & digital synths were used along with guitar & bass with various effects pedals. Recorded over a two year period from 2019 - 2021 in the Dustbin in Rural Pennsylvania, mixed by Connor Clasen & Mastered by Oliver Ackermann.
HOUSE OF HARM (8:45 PM)
House of Harm, described as post-punk by everyone but themselves, offers a refreshing approach to the underground genre.
The band’s two 2019 demo EPs quickly earned them a dedicated international following, as well as an imposing line up of support slots opening for Editors, She Past Away, Lust For Youth, Soft Kill, and The Cure’s Reeves Gabrels. Their debut LP, “Vicious Pastimes”, was released in 2020 by Avant! Records to wide critical and fan acclaim. Following the band’s North American touring in support of the album and handful of follow up singles, HOH plans to release their eagerly anticipated Sophomore LP in winter 2023.
For better or worse…
CHEEKY (8:00)
Cheeky is the solo project of classically trained pianist Kaylee Sabatino. Since the release of her first EP, Flora, which she wrote and produced from the confines of her bedroom in 2018, Cheeky performs frequently in Philadelphia, New York & L.A., implementing a sampler, synths, and dense vocal loops and layering. In the spring of 2022 she put forth her debut full-length album, The Star, with Toronto-based label Boiled Records, in conjunction with Arts & Crafts (MX). Inspired heavily by a classical upbringing and early IDM, Cheeky approaches her compositions with a sense of drama and grandiose, while embracing the sharp edges of digital production, pop structures and percussive experimentation.
