Spirit Hustler is modern classic rock from the Bay Area born of an acoustic heart and layered with cosmic electricity. Featuring singer/songrocker Jimmy Leslie (Guitar Player, Guitarfish, Shana Morrison), slide ace Jules Leyhe (Allmond Brothers), bassist Steven La Bella (Pamela Parker) and drummer Adam Briere (New School of Jazz) the group that spawned from the Guitarfish Family Band is celebrating the release of its self-titled debut album cut at Lucky Recording Company. Spirit Hustler celebrated the physical release on vinyl and CD at the Sweetwater earlier in the year, two singles are online now, and the full album drops May 20.
A Theatre of the Mind in two acts, imaginative songs are like animated audio art. Many are inspired by specific events and locations. The first single, “The Spirit of ’69,” considers how technology since the Moon Landing has transformed life in the digital age. An impromptu performance during Renegade Burning Man ’21 at Reverbia served as the livestream soundtrack for the incredible Drone Man show (100k YouTube views). The second single, “Circlin’ the Sun,” is a song of global unity that was released on Earth Day. “Devil Deal” takes a sexy she-demon spin on the infamous bluesman at the crossroads scenario. “Honey Moon” summons the spirit of Yosemite. “Hard-Fought Magic” is a Guitarfish Fest anthem.
Very special guests including Pamela Parker and more TBA will be on hand to bring the textured layers of the epic recording to life.
“Wow, this is a masterpiece! Perfect, honest, unaffected psychedelic folk rock vocals and the lyrics to match. A real modern San Francisco album.” —Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars, Black Crowes)
