We invite you to join us for an introduction to our vibrant local music scene! Look for Live & Locals on some Wednesday nights. These shows will start at 7 PM, usually feature three artists and be general admission for a more casual night out.
Petite Sketches will open the show. This solo project of Philadelphia's Tim Straughter takes small vignettes and sets them to song. Playing second is Kirby Sybert, whose musical adventures create a vibe that people latch onto built on hip shaking grooves, with lyrics portraying characters united in their struggle to be better people in a better world. Closing out the night is Ali Awan. According to John Vettesse, editor of Philly's music blog The Key, "a healthy lineage of barnstorming psych rock artists has emerged from Philadelphia over the years: 1960s originators like The Nazz, and more contemporary, retro-flavored artists like Lilys and Dr. Dog. In certain circles, this is dubbed the "Psychedelphia" scene, and the latest to carry its torch is a 26-year-old songwriter named Ali Awan."
