Leatherworking Bootcamp: Cut & Sew Your Own Leather Tote Bag
March 9, 2019
12:00 PM
Doors Open: 11:45 AM
Doors Open: 11:45 AM
In this leatherworking bootcamp, resident master of leather and Tilt Leather owner Jennifer Laursen will teach you how to create your own high-end, unisex, leather tote bag! The finished project is a leather tote measuring 13" x 11", with an inside pocket and keychain. It’s the perfect bag for keeping track of all of you doodads, whatsits, and thingamajigs!
You’ll build, sew, and rivet every part of this high end bag yourself. You'll learn to work with a pattern, how to cut out your bag from the hide, and how and when to use leather adhesives. You’ll also learn how to punch holes, hand stitching techniques, and how to create a box corner. Lastly, you'll cut your choice of straps and rivet them onto your bag. This class includes several hours of handwork and stitching, so a prior leather class or sewing class is always helpful, but not necessary. Bring those hands well rested and ready to work!
Supplies Needed: None. Please note that we are offering black, brown, and tan leather colorways for your bag. You will choose this color when buying your class ticket.
Instructor Bio: Jennifer Laursen, owner and designer of Tilt Leather, has been making leather accessories for women, men, and home for the past seven years. She also teaches leatherwork to kids and adults around the Bay Area. You can catch her work at local stores and artisan markets, as well as online at http://www.tiltleather.com.
The rules / important stuff: We have a NO EXCEPTIONS 72 HOUR CANCELLATION policy - this includes cancellation, re-books, gift certificates, moving classes, etc. For more information on canceling a class, please read our cancellation policy.
