Longtime Hideout staple Lawrence Peters hosts this weekly showcase featuring artists from many corners of Chicago's storied country/western scene.
This week: Mike Reeb
Chicago-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Mike Reeb embraces classic country and Americana music through original songs framed by his Second City experiences. His 2021 single ‘60625’ alone offers multiple city references, a rumbling CTA train field recording, and even an illustrated Lake Michigan moonrise gracing the album cover. Chicago ties aside, fans of Justin Townes Earle, June Carter Cash, The Beatles, and Merle Haggard will hear several familiar tunes at each performance- and some Hank Williams Sr.-inspired yodeling.
Reeb's latest single ‘Your Eyes Now Dry’ moves just as fast as ‘60625’ and also features pedal steel guitarist Brian Wilkie of the Hoyle Brothers. Listen to these singles and a handful of other Mike Reeb albums/EPs any time on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, or any digital music platform. Mike Reeb & the Consequences (Ben, Nate, Goldy, Mike) will share these and other original/cover songs at The Hideout as part of LP’s Happy Hour on Friday, August 12 from 6pm-7pm, doors at 5:30pm. Advance tickets $5, at the door $7, proof of vaxx required.
