Bloomington Symphony Orchestra: The Storyteller and the Poet
Doors Open: 2:30 PM
The BSO has established its Concert Health & Safety Protocols in advance of the "Celebrations!" performance. BSO is requiring all attendees wear a mask and show proof of vaccination OR a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of the performance. For more information, please visit our Full Concert Health & Safety Plan. Thank you for your participation in keeping our audiences and musicians safe, and helping us keep the music playing!
The Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Manny Laureano, is proud to present the music of two composers for this concert, each with a language that speaks to our hearts and imaginations. William Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony is a rediscovered American gem that paints portraits through his impeccable orchestration, and melodies supported by perfect harmonies. Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto for Violin in D Major is a model of presumed simplicity and musical economy that manifests as poetry, line by line. The BSO will welcome back concertmaster Michael Sutton to center stage as he offers his take on this time-tested masterpiece.
