Music by Burton Lane, Book by E. Y. Harburg and Fred Saidy, Lyrics by E. Y. Harburg
"You'll never grow old and you'll never grow poor, if you look to the rainbow, beyond the next moor." One of America's classic and most original musicals, Finian's Rainbow boasts a rich score and a surprisingly timely story! Irish dreamer Finian McLonerghan, with his savvy daughter Sharon, travels to America to bury a small pot of gold, which he "borrowed" from Og, a lively leprechaun. Finian believes the gold will grow to yield millions. Settling in Rainbow Valley in the state of Missitucky, the McLonerghans encounter goodhearted sharecroppers, bigoted blowhard politicians and magical happenings! With lyrics by "Yip" Harburg (the lyricist of The Wizard of Oz, including Over the Rainbow), the song list reads like a page from the Great American Songbook: Old Devil Moon, Look to the Rainbow, How Are Things In Glocca Morra?, If This Isn't Love, When I'm Not Near The Girl I Love, Something Sort of Grandish and more! A beautiful, heartwarming story with a message that is as relevant today as it was then!
