Julia McGarrity leads this star studded group of Portland musicians. Reviving historic folk music with an avant garde take. Her group most recently received recognition from NPR’s Bob Boilen and Jewly Hight in the Tiny Desk Competition this year. Where their song “ New Love” was featured as a finalist on an episode of TOP SHELF! Julia is from Portland Oregon and has received scholarships for her undergraduate and graduate music degrees from Portland State University. She is a second generation Korean American and the first in her family to receive a Master's Degree. Elementary Music Specialist by day, and songstress by night her music reaches all ears. She is a multi instrumentalist with classical studies in viola, piano, and is self taught on the guitar. June Magnolia consists of Alex Milsted (Berklee College of Music) on keys & vocals, Tim Sweeny (Berklee College of Music) on Bass, Devon Brown ( New Modern Warfare & House Party Fantasy) on Vibraphone & Guitar, and Sacha Müller (Dead Aunt Thelma’s Studio) on Drums.
