This new festival will include outside food trucks, a craft beer garden, and an indoor artisan marketplace. The music starts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a grand finale concert at 8:00 p.m. by the reigning IBMA “Entertainers of the Year” Balsam Range. Event extras include a youth program performance at 6:00 p.m. on Friday by Scott County JAMS. On Saturday, the music begins at 2:00 pm with a grand finale concert at 8:00 p.m. by 5-time IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out.

The festival will take place on the grounds of the lovely Damascus Old Mill Inn adjacent to the scenic mill dam on Laurel Creek. The music will be outdoors under a tent, so bringing a lawn chair or blanket is recommended. A limited number of seats will be provided.

Since their formation in 2007, Balsam Range has been a dominant force in bluegrass music, winning numerous IBMA awards including Vocal Group of the Year in 2014. Named for the mountain range surrounding their home area of Haywood County, North Carolina, the band has produced numerous acclaimed albums featuring the mix of traditional stylings and modern sensibilities for which they are known.

The Boys take the stage Saturday at 2:00 p.m. These southwest Virginia natives mix old-time mountain influences with modern styles.

The Church Sisters' mesmerizing music starts at 4:00 p.m. Originally from Dickinson County, VA, their roots extend through Bluegrass and Gospel.

At 6:00 p.m., two-time IBMA award winner Volume Five performs, sharing their bluegrass sound that has earned them critical acclaim from media, radio, and their peers.

Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out features one of the greatest singers in bluegrass music history – Russell has been awarded “Male Vocalist of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association an unprecedented five times. Russell honed his skills performing for 6 years with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and helped formed IIIrd Tyme Out in 1991. The band has a knack for injecting great variety into their music, so even though it’s solid bluegrass, it’s always fresh sounding. Great singing has also been the hallmark of the entire band, garnering them several “Vocal Group of the Year” awards. After more than 25 years in bluegrass and dozens of acclaimed recordings, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out remains one of the finest groups in the genre.
