Virtuosic, master players, innovators, composers. Miles and Lugosch have taken their music literally around the world—but they call Chicago home. In a world peppered with imitation, Miles and Lugosch arguably have their very own sounds on the banjo and guitar. It’s been said before, “you just have to hear these guys.” This concert will feature electrifying duets as well as solo work.
MICHAEL J. MILES
Michael J. Miles is a master banjoist, guitarist, orchestral composer, author of numerous theatrical works combining music and history, and an acclaimed music educator. Alone in concert or with his signature stage production, From Senegal To Seeger, he has had standing ovations on four continents. But give him a string quartet, jazz band, orchestra, or choir and Michael creates new music bringing critical rave, and professional respect from musical legends. Miles latest recording, “Mississippi River Suite,” was described by renowned banjoist, Tony Trischka: “This is a masterpiece!”
"This is enough to make me want to learn the banjo all over again."
- Pete Seeger
National Fingerpicking Champion Eric Lugosch presents a truly original and inspirational show. There are no gimmicks or gadgets --just a genuinely gifted imagination and a fluency that comes from years of working on his craft. Eric’s arrangements of traditional songs and jazz standards are now considered classics in picking circles, where he is also regarded as one of America’s best original fingerstyle composers, as well as a talented songwriter.
“Lugosch strolls onstage with his guitar into the home turfs of folk, blues, pop and jazz,
shepherding influences into harmonic bliss like a global musical peacekeeper.”
