This concert will be at Haysi Kiwanis Park at Dickenson County Fairgrounds located at Kiwanis Park Road in Haysi, VA. ~~~~ Mickey Galyean & Cullen’s Bridge is a great example of a musical torch being passed from father to son. Mickey’s Dad Cullen was a very talented and influential musician from Low Gap, NC who loved playing traditional bluegrass on a variety of instruments, and Mickey inherited that passion from his Dad. The band’s aptly titled CD recording entitled “My Daddy’s Grass” was a top 10 album most of 2017 and the single “I Found My Daddy’s Grass” spent a year on the charts where it peaked at number 1. The band brings all the ingredients for great bluegrass - very tight vocal harmonies, impressive picking, and a talent for writing great songs. Joining Mickey (guitar) are Billy Hawkes (fiddle), Brad Hiatt (bass), and Rick Pardue (banjo). ~~~~ Hollow Ground is a bluegrass and gospel music group formed in 2011 with members from East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The group can knock out bluegrass standards but a majority of their repertoire is original music in the tradition with a few surprises like Lynryd Skynyrd’s southern rock anthem “Simple Man” thrown in for variety’s sake. The groups is anchored by a father and son duo – Millard Edwards on banjo and son Robert Edwards on lead and rhythm guitar. Joining them are Josh Jessee on mandolin, Brian Vicchio on rhythm guitar, Mike Adams on bass, and David Holtsclaw playing Dobro. Josh, Millard and Robert previously toured for many years as Virginia Cross Ties. The group has two excellent CD recordings to their credit. ~~~~ The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming is made possible by the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission, Food City, National Endowment for the Arts, Virginia Department of Housing & Economic Development, Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Blue Ridge Beverage, Virginia Commission for the Arts, Davenport & Company, Market Connections, Community Foundation for the New River Valley, Asset Solutions Corporation, Ballad Health, McGuire Woods LLP, Galax Moose Lodge # 773, Union Bank, Bank of Marion, Bill Kornrich, Breaks Insterstate Park, David & Judie Reemsnyder, Electric Hardwoods, Moonstruck Management, CGI, Rotary Club of Washington County, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, FocusOne Integrated Financial Planning, Chantilly Farm, Downtown Wytheville Association, SWCC Educational Foundation, Walt & Janet Crickmer.
