TU Dance celebrates its 15th Anniversary Season at The O’Shaughnessy with an evening of works by legendary choreographers that have given form to the shared vision of TU Dance founding Artistic Directors Toni Pierce-Sands and Uri Sands.
The program will include, among others, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar’s Walking with Pearl. . . Africa Diaries—a tribute to dance anthropologist Pearl Primus originally created for Zollar’s company, Urban Bush Women, and Ron K. Brown’s Where The Light Shines Through, originally created for TU Dance in 2017, which tells a story of solidarity and perseverance, examining how purpose is often directed by one’s perspective. The work features traditional music recorded by Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba and other world music artists.
