Long-time leader of the Navy’s Country Current band, bluegrass great Wayne Taylor is headed to Sylvia Theater for a single show, bringing the band Carnegie Tradition with him. Wayne Taylor served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, leading the Country Current band for 18 of those years. His 8:30PM Door concert in the intimate venue at 27 North Congress Street York SC will feature a salute to Flatt & Scruggs, the original Foggy Mountain Boys bluegrass band. The 1948 band was founded by guitarist Lester Flatt and banjo player Earl Scruggs and is viewed by music historians as one of the premier bluegrass groups in the history of the genre. Their theme song for the 1960′s sitcom, The Beverly Hillbillies went to #1 on the Country charts in 1963. Wayne Taylor, along with Carnegie Tradition will devote about half of their show to the Flatt & Scruggs tribute. The band’s Carnegie Tradition name is a reference to the 1962 Carnegie Hall concert performance by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs.
