A renowned expert on the American economy, Heather McGhee is one of the most brilliant and influential thinkers exploring inequality today. Both her viral TED talk and her instant New York Times bestseller The Sum of Us reveal the devastating true cost of racism – not just for people of color, but for everyone. Deeply stirring, intelligent and compassionate, McGhee’s talks offer us an actionable roadmap during one of the most critical – and the most troubled – periods in history.

After the Keynote, a self-contained take-home or family-style meal will be available to all ticketed patrons, which is included with your ticket. Meals are gluten-free, and a vegetarian option will be available. Please check with the Box Office closer to the event to learn more details.

There will be opportunity after the show to purchase their book "The Sum of Us" at the Box Office Window. There may be opportunity to meet Ms. McGhee for a book signing after the luncheon.

Have kids at home?  Bring them at 10:30 a.m. for Especially for Youth, designed to keep your children ages 6 to 12 years (1st through 6th grade) happily engaged with a series of activities, an age-appropriate video, and arts and crafts based on the history of Dr. King and the civil rights movement. This activity is free of charge and includes a self-contained box take-home lunch. Registration available beginning December 1st through RestonCommunityCenter.com.

It is recommended that children under 16 be accompanied by an adult.
