VIOLET BELL

Blending pop sensibilities with classical chops and folk traditions, “Violet Bell puts an avant-garde twist on traditional roots music” (INDY Week). This “elegant marriage of strings and vocals” is “delicate yet powerful,” (Encore Magazine) breathing new life into the traditional Americana sound. Singer-songwriter Lizzy Ross “channels the spirit of Eva Cassidy,” while multi-instrumentalist Omar Ruiz-Lopez’s violin performance is “chocolate,” resulting in an undeniable onstage chemistry that captivates audiences of all ages (Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Show).

Performing as a duo or quintet, Violet Bell are equally at home in a performing arts center or an intimate listening space. They have mesmerized audiences across America with their “fiery live performances” (The Boot), offering “a mashup of classical, soul, bluegrass, jazz, old-time and blues that floats effortlessly” (Greensboro News & Record).

This unique blend of skill, innovation and joy has not gone unnoticed. In their young career, they have been featured at festivals and events across the country, including Americanafest 2018, WoodSongs, Rooster Walk Festival, Grassroots Festival, the Charleston Bluegrass Festival, and many more. In 2020, the quintet will tour internationally as musical ambassadors for the US State Department.

ALICE HOWE and FREEBO

When Alice Howe Alice Howe Alice Howe wants to unlock a memory or understand an emotion, she steps  outside. “There’s something about the stillness,” she says. “When I’m sitting with my  guitar and looking out at a forest or the ocean, I have the space to reflect to on  people and places. My muse strikes.”

Vistas and the faces and emotions they summon unfurl with compelling grace on  Visions, Howe’s anticipated debut album. A modern love letter to 60s and 70s folk  and timeless blues, Visions pays homage without succumbing to imitation, and offers  an intimate snapshot of a young artist discovering her own power.

FREEBO

IF NOT NOW WHEN is the culmination of Freebo’s successful transition from world-renown bass player to world-class songwriter, artist, and producer. The CD is a combination of newly written and recorded songs, interspersed with previously recorded songs, all re-sung, re-mixed, and sometimes re-orchestrated. Freebo’s revealing and poetic lyrics are beautifully supported and emotionally enhanced by the varied styles of music he has played with so many of the legends of Rock ‘N’ Roll, artfully producing his songs by focusing on his acoustic guitar and voice with tastefully augmented instrumentation, including his iconic fretless bass. A rare combination of musical sophistication and lyrical wisdom, IF NOT NOW WHEN is an inspiring, motivational, deeply revealing, and often humorous look into a kind, thoughtful, and artistic soul whose musical imprint has been memorably embedded in the last six decades of American music.
