David Gans, with The Possums

  September 24, 2017 8:00 PM

Doors Open: 7:00 PM
Advance Price: $10

A David Gans "solo electric" performance is likely to consist of several elements: country-blues-style fingerpicking; loop-based improvisations created live in the moment; sweetly-sung ballads, original or borrowed; Grateful Dead songs reinterpreted to suit his voice and guitar; wry observations of the music-festival subculture and the larger world; soulful and passionate political commentary; favorites from the folk-rock canon of the last 50 years. Mix and match - it's never the same show twice, but it's always worth a listen.

THE POSSUMS: In 2000, Mark Mathers. Steve Todd, and Mark Daffer met on New Years Eve at the Tiki Hut at Alleighs in Wilmington, NC. Todd and Daffer were in "poor No More" and they asked Mathers to sit in with them for a "Dead Night" they were working on as the second drummer.

These guys played around for years and were involved closing the first "Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash" in Myrtle Beach at the Boathouse. They have done it every year since as the event closers indoors at night. After various turnover in the band, Steve introduced Andy Dortch and Dan Sweeny from his Band....The Casserole. We seemed like we were really starting to jell, so we decided to start playing out on a more regular basis. The response has been great.
