This concert features the music of iconic American composers. Guest artist, Blair McMillen, piano, will perform George Gershwin’s popular Concerto in F. Also on the program is a world premiere of Rhapsody and Riffs for Saxophone and Orchestra by Dr. Larry Lipkis, commissioned for this concert. This new work features Dr. Neil Wetzel, Chair of the Music Department, on saxophone. In addition, the orchestra will perform Aaron Copland’s Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes and Leonard Bernstein’s Slava! (A Political Overture). This concert is offered in memory of Betty Aierstock Moore, honoring her substantial contribution to Moravian College’s All-Steinway initiative. This concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the Dexter F. and Dorothy H. Baker Foundation. A reception follows the concert.
