Celebrating Czechoslovakia’s Centennial!
Kenwood Symphony Orchestra, Yuri Ivan, Artistic Director
MacPhail’s Sonomento, Craig Fields, Musical Director
100 years ago Czechoslovakia was proclaimed a multinational democratic state as it combined Czech, Slovak, and Carpatho-Rusyn communities. Celebrate this rich cultural heritage at a concert featuring Suchoň’s Psalm accompanied by projections of archival hand-colored photographs taken in the area during the 1920s. The concert also includes Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1, and Kodály’s Intermezzo from Háry János Suite.
Before the concert, enjoy a discussion starting at 6:30pm and led by Dr. Paul Robert Magocsi, chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Toronto. A reception follows the concert.
