This concert will be at AR Matthews Park located on Riverside Dr. in St. Paul, VA. ~~~~ Led by SPBGMA’s “Mandolin Performer of the Year” for 2018, Alan Bibey & Grasstowne is a band comprised of well-respected veterans of bluegrass music. Alan was a member of popular bands The New Quicksilver, IIIrd Tyme Out and BlueRidge and has been honored by The Gibson Company with The Alan Bibey signature mandolin. Grasstowne’s first three recording projects, “The Road Headin' Home", “The Other Side of Towne" and “Kickin Up Dust," rose to #1, #2 and #2 respectively on the National Bluegrass Charts. The band’s latest project called simply “4," has had each and every song chart and has yielded six #1 songs. The Grasstowne cast includes Mike Bentley on guitar and vocals, Zak McLamb as bassist, Gina Britt on banjo, and fiddler Laura Orshaw. Strong songwriting, superb vocal harmonies, and fine picking are what you will get with this group. ~~~~ The Yates Family embodies the passing down of tradition from one generation to the next. Debbie Yates and husband Tim have shared their love of mountain music with daughters Molly (mandolin) and Sadie (bass) who have found their own niche with hair-raising harmony singing. This is a load of talent in one family and combines the bluegrass guitar stylings of Tim and the old time banjo playing of Debbie who is also a dynamic old time fiddler. ~~~~ The Crooked Road’s Mountains of Music Homecoming is made possible by the support of the Appalachian Regional Commission, Food City, National Endowment for the Arts, Virginia Department of Housing & Economic Development, Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Blue Ridge Beverage, Virginia Commission for the Arts, Davenport & Company, Market Connections, Community Foundation for the New River Valley, Asset Solutions Corporation, Ballad Health, McGuire Woods LLP, Galax Moose Lodge # 773, Union Bank, Bank of Marion, Bill Kornrich, Breaks Insterstate Park, David & Judie Reemsnyder, Electric Hardwoods, Moonstruck Management, CGI, Rotary Club of Washington County, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, FocusOne Integrated Financial Planning, Chantilly Farm, Downtown Wytheville Association, SWCC Educational Foundation, Walt & Janet Crickmer.
