STIG is an all-instrumental Psychedelic Nu-Funk band based out of Asheville, North Carolina, consisting of 5 best friends from a myriad of places both geographically and musically, including Ryan Stigmon on saxophone, Thomson Knoles on keyboards, Artie Sadtler on bass, Jack McChesney on drums, and Riley Hoover on guitar. They are individually influenced by jazz, funk, metal, bluegrass, psychedelic rock, and beyond. A day in the STIG tour van is soundracked by an absurd potluck of 5 musical brains and their live shows artfully weave their improvisational nature with tight communication and 3 years of playing and growing together, to create a high energy, exploratory and engaging experience.
Meeting in Boone, NC through Appalachian State's Hayes School of Music, Unaka Prong began as a joint collaboration of songwriting in 2013 between John Hargett, Mike Welsh, Daniel Stevenson, Jonathon Sale, and Chris Pope.
Over the past six years, Unaka Prong has been sculpting a sonically unique identity. Offering a fresh and memorable musical experience that many fans have described as a melding between prog rock groups like King Crimson, jazz funk groups like Soulive, and psychedelic jam rock groups like Phish. Combining odd meters, funky grooves, and earnest lyricism, their latest release, 'Salinity Now!', reflects the group honing in their songwriting with each stylistic direction. Recently the band has been busy touring the east coast performing at music festivals and clubs alike supporting notable acts including Tauk, Col. Bruce Hampton, Moon Taxi, Toubab Krewe, Jonathon Scales Fourchestra, and Dumpstaphunk.
Medicated Sunfish is a young band out of Wilmington, NC that has the talent, creativity, and soul to rise to the top of the NC jamband scene.
Their first release is a self-titled 5 song EP that has a sense of maturity and polish rarely seen in bands this early in their career.
The EP features two distinct personalities of the band, both growing directly from their musical influences--the syncopated ska rhythms of Sublime and the pure energy and passion of Rage Against The Machine. While these influences are out front and obvious, their ability to play with both precision and deep-pocketed groove keeps their sound genuine and honest. When some bands are constantly reaching for the sound of their influences, Medicated Sunfish nails it from the start and uses it as a starting point for their creativity.
