Through the eyes of 17-year-old Ernestine, we see the history of the Crump family as they move to 1950s New York after the death of their mother. A story of resilience, daydreams, everyday heartbreak, and what it means to feel like an outsider fighting to better yourself and your community, Crumbs is the coming-of-age story of Ernestine, and the ways in which her family finds their way—their own peace. Their story is a testament to the challenging nature of change, and the ways in which to manage it. In the end for the Crump family, "joy comes in the morning."
