Please join us for Shaping our Community: Artists at Work on Thursday, March 29th, 7:00 PM, at the Durham Arts Council Building. The evening’s program will combine the introduction of the 2018 Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artists and a conversation with one of Durham’s most accomplished spoken word artists.

This evening’s key note speaker is Dasan Ahanu, artist, community organizer, educator, slam poetry coach, 2-time Indy Arts Award winner (the only individual to receive two awards), and the 2015-2016 Nasir Jones Fellow with the Hip Hop Archive & Research Institute at Harvard University’s Hutchins Center for African & African American Research. Dasan will be sharing his experience negotiating spoken and unspoken social structures as a poet, teacher, mentor and scholar in “The Art of Re-imagining.”

After the program we will have the opportunity to visit with Dasan and the award recipients during a delectable buffet and wine reception sponsored by our local Whole Foods Market.

Please join us for this inspiring evening of entertainment and celebration!
