Doors Open: 10:30 AM
Join us for a conversation that will highlight the importance of play for young children's development and explore methods to do so in the outdoors. We will invite advocates and partners to share personal experiences and best practices around exploring the DC area together as a family. Particular consideration will be given to contextualizing the history of African Americans' relationship to outdoor spaces and empowering families of color to fully explore and enjoy public lands. This program will be an opportunity for caregivers to get outside and explore with their preschoolers and early-elementary children for the first time, or expand their regular adventures outdoors and gather new ideas together!
Following the conversation, join us outside NMAAHC for a picnic lunch and Family Day activities on the National Mall. Boxed lunches will be provided to all registered attendees for the morning program.
