Music for Mass Incarceration

  October 5, 2022 8:00 PM

Berklee students who have completed the LENS: Mass Incarceration course will perform original works. Their performances will include music, dance, and visual arts, all responding to topics surrounding mass incarceration in the U.S.

In addition to student performances, Stacey Borden will speak about the opening of the first residential women’s reentry program in the state of Massachusetts, New Beginnings. Borden has served as a guest speaker for LENS: Mass Incarceration and as a panelist for Berklee’s Feminist Faculty Alliance’s annual International Women’s Day event.

Borden developed a passion to assist women in overcoming the most challenging issues they face after being released from incarceration. She also aims to address the issues these women confronted before their involvement in criminal activities—issues that brought them directly into the prison system. Borden is committed to helping women heal and turn their lives around.

The concert will be directed by Gretchen Shae Moore.
