Chibia
Fronted by singer/songwriter and violinist Chibia Ulinwa, Chibia thoughtfully pairs deep, meditative vibes, introspective musings, inventive melodies, and lush productions to realize her uniquely soulful sound and bring life to her carefully crafted compositions. Graduating from Portland State with a Masters in Music Education, Chibia Ulinwa tirelessly balances her budding music career and artistic vision with her role as an orchestra director in public schools across the river in Vancouver, Washington, inspiring younger generations of musicians.
Her track ‘Honey’ has been featured in Marvel’s She Hulk as well as Queen Sugar on the Oprah Winfrey Network. It has also been voted one of KMHD’s best singles of 2020, quoted as ‘not a second of its 4 minutes land[ing] flat— and as soon as it’s over, you put it on again”.
Joining her on stage are some of Portland’s finest musicians Alex Koehler on keys and bass/synth bass, Clay Parkman on guitar, Chris Parkman on drums, Kristof Schroeder on alto sax/flute, Joel Schain on violin, and Steven Skolnik on auxiliary percussion.

Alexis Mahler explores her softness through the dark and earthy colors of the cello, a somber strum comforted by delicate lyrics and playful melodies. Her debut EP, Low Moon, innocently reaches for the most tender and heartful listener, while following intricate, moving layers of cello, violin, and distant vocal harmonies that seem to fall exactly where they should.
Classically trained and Michigan-made, Mahler has found life in Portland to be fully grounding and inspiring. She splits her time between teaching private music lessons, performing as a solo artist, and doing session work for songwriters, both local and long-distance. Mahler has worked with Matt Costa, John Davey, Katie Toupin, Whitney, Shook Twins, Jacob Miller, Erisy Watt, Forest Veil, Matt Dorrien, and Merō.
