The 50-piece wind and percussion orchestra, directed by Evan Feldman, will present five pieces by Spanish composers, including those writing for films and the large professional symphonic ensembles that are popular throughout Spain.

Spanish music tends to be dynamic and rhythmically exciting, and because many of the composers also write for films, their music frequently is programmatic, meaning that is inspired by stories. One of these pieces is “El olimpo de los Dioses” (The Olympus of the Gods), with movements dedicated to several of the Greek deities. Composers include Oscar Navarro, Ferrer Ferran, Luis Serrano Alarcón, and José Serrano. Some of the pieces will be conducted by visiting Spanish conductor Juan Navarro.

Visit the Triangle Wind Ensemble website closer to concert time to learn more about the program and the conductors.
