The Study Sessions, originally scheduled for 1/18/22, has been rescheduled to 2/15/22.
The Study Sessions are avant garde classical, jazz, and new wave performances paired with a unique classical and jazz open mic for emerging artists.
Each session will feature a classical and jazz performance as well as off the beaten path performances by chamber musicians of all backgrounds.
Submissions to be a featured open mic artist can be submitted to Lisa.Lipton@
January 18th’s inaugural session features local classical Flutist Jayde Weide performing Syrinx by Claude Debussy for solo flute, Andy Rayborn’s musical project Papergates which showcases Bass Clarinet aided by electronics, haunting melodies, and sounds reminiscent of Moondog.
After the opening mic, a special showcase of Ceramics, paper moon installation, and experimental Theremin and Clarinet improvisation set will brought to the study sessions by Gina Collison and Lisa Lipton through a Regional Arts and Culture Council Make|Learn|Build grant that funded this collaboration.
The evening will end with jazz trio Fredson The Jeffy with jazz pianist George Colligan, jazz drummer Micah Hummel, and genre bending clarinetist Lisa Lipton. Their most recent album was released in September under the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble, recorded and mixed by jazz pianist Randy Porter at Heavywood Studios.
