Raam is a New York based Iranian musician now also working in theater and film. He started his musical career as the singer/founder of Hypernova, a post-punk band born in the undergrounds of Tehran in the early 2000's. After several years of rock 'n' roll adventures with his band, he decided to pursue a solo career under the name of King Raam. He spent the better part of the following decade performing and living around the world in places like Toronto, Vancouver, London, Los Angeles, Berlin, New York and Tehran. Raam has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, CNN, PBS, BBC, MTV, Vanity Fair and VICE.
Raam's haunting baritone voice is often compared to Ian Curtis and Nick Cave. His current three-piece band is heavily influenced by Depeche Mode and Sisters of Mercy incorporating darker electronic sounds and beats to their repertoire.
