SLIM GAMBILL
WEBSITE
He started rocking out as a kid, found jazz early and wound up playing in a country band.
Clearly, Jason "Slim" Gambill is not one to be constrained by limitations. Or expectations.
The Nebraska-born, Colorado-raised guitarist is, of course, best known for his 13 years of working with country hitmakers Lady A, a key adjunct in the trio's rise to multi-platinum, award-winning fame thanks to his hot licks and his trademark two-foot-long braids. But Gambill draws from a deep musical well, and his recent albums -- FAKE JAZZ & THEME SONGS, LCD -- as well as his buoyant new single "Up" and music that's to come are the work of someone with endless ambition and no boundaries on his ambitions or imagination.
"I love sideman land, but it's cool to put your own music out," says Gambill, who now resides in Nashville. "Jazz and blues, and classic rock, is what got me into the guitar bug and practicing and learning, so this is kind of almost circling back around to where I started. It's an amazing outlet I haven't had for a long time, where I can do whatever I want."
Gambill's passion for music was born in Colorado Springs, where his family moved when he was eight years old. He began playing guitar when he was nine, learning on his grandmother's old acoustic, and became "obsessed" with the Woodstock documentary he first saw when he was 12 years old, transfixed by iconic performances from Jimi Hendrix, Richie Havens and Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. He was also informed by his parent's collection of classic rock albums, subsequently discovering contemporary guitar heroes such as Stevie Ray Vaughan.
A crucial turning point came when Gambill was exposed to jazz at 15, after joining the high school stage band. "The band director gave me an opportunity I didn't really deserve, and I didn't have the foggiest idea what I was doing," he recalls. "But I practiced and worked hard and listened, and I got to be pretty good at reading big band charts, and other guys in the band who knew what they were doing exposed me to a lot of (music)."

Jeff Kashiwa knew he was destined to be a musician following his junior introduction to woodwinds. His instincts were correct. He became known as one of the most compelling young saxophonists in contemporary jazz during his first year with The Rippingtons. Kashiwa performed hundreds of shows all over the world and appeared on many of the band’s classic recordings.
Having Established himself in the 1990s as one of the most diverse saxmen in contemporary jazz during his decade long tenure with The Rippingtons, Kashiwa’s instincts led him to more dynamic endeavors through his solo career. It surprised many when Jeff left the group to venture out on his own, but he had things to say through his own music. Kashiwa now has nine CDs released under his own name and has continued to record as a guest artist with many other artists as well. In 2004, Kashiwa founded The Sax Pack, a trio of saxophone headliners, featuring himself, Steve Cole and Kim Waters. The group released two CDs together and charmed audiences with their Rat Pack style reparte’ in tours across the U.S and abroad.
In 2006, Jeff reunited with The Rippingtons for their 20th anniversary Tour and continues to record and tour with the group as often as his busy schedule will allow.

REINALDO BRAHN
WEBSITE
WATCH
Born in Belo Horizonte ( which means ‘beautiful horizon’), the third largest city in Brazil, Reinaldo Brahn picked up the family guitar at age 12, curiously strummed its chords, and was hooked. He taught himself traditional Musica Mineira, the rhythms of his native state Minas Gerais. Gaining experience playing and singing at festivals, bars and restaurants, he worked with the renowned Brazilian vocal group Soul Makube before embarking on a solo career. Reinaldo's experiences and collaboration with other musicians created his signature style which infuses classic Brazilian rhythms - Samba & Bossa Nova - with Funk and Jazz.
Reinaldo toured his original music throughout Brazil, and then brought his artistry to the United States. Arriving in Charlotte, North Carolina, in October 2007, he quickly introduced his Brazilian roots to the local scene. He creatively applies robust Brazilian style to popular American music with a truly inspiring result. Reinaldo's specialties include singing and playing authentic Brazilian music, including Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB) and classic Sambas, as well as performing American pop songs with a strong Brazilian influence. Veteran percussionist and producer Jim Brock refers to Reinaldo Brahn as "the new voice of Brazil".
