PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Led by JT Nero and Allison Russell, Birds of Chicago are known for their seamless combination of rock n roll meets "near perfect Americana" (No Depression). Their new album, Love in Wartime is a rock and roll suite with impressive cinematic sweep. Co-produced by Nero and Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), it evokes epic efforts of the 60’s and 70’s, with love as the undeniable through-line, and finds Nero and Russell continuing to create joyously urgent rock songs with deep lyricism, gut-punch singing and fevered musicality.

Says JT Nero, chief songwriter for the band, "A good show can send you back into the night feeling-for at least a little while-that everything isn't broken. Right now, we wanna dose out as much of that feeling as we can."

NEW! Birds of Chicago now joined by opener Smokey and the Mirror!

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
The Camden Opera House presents the second installment of our new MaineMadeMusic series, Chris Ross and The North, with opener Travis James Humphrey.

ABOUT CHRIS ROSS:
If you enjoy Ray Lamontangne, Jason Isbell, or Bruce Springsteen, you'll be won over by the roots-rock power of Chris Ross and The North. Ross won the 2014 New England songwriter of the Year award, and the musicians forming The North provide a masterful blend of rock & roll swagger, a winning combination with Ross’s candid storytelling. Anchored by Ryan Curless (drums) and Caleb Sweet (bass), the rhythm section hits where you want it to, and hard – a fine tuned compatibility of artistic bonds reaching back to early childhood perceptible to the naked ear. Rounding out The North is guitarist Zachary Bence, a virtuoso with the ability to transition between ear-scorching guitar solos and beautiful sonic swells on the drop of a dime, his grace as a musician as boundless as his contribution to the band’s steady concord.

ABOUT TRAVIS JAMES HUMPHREY:
Travis James Humphrey has been called a ‘One-Man Honky Tonk Band’ and has opened shows for B.B. King, Ricky Skaggs, David Alan Coe, Roy Clark, Marty Stuart, Bill Chinnock, "Mad Dog" Blackberry Smoke, The Mallett Brothers Band, and many other fine artists. Originally from Northern Maine, Travis has released four studio albums.

Up and coming singer/songwriter Katie Matzell and the Jason Spooner Band co-present the third in our MaineMadeMusic series. Don't miss this dynamic Portland Maine double-bill!

ABOUT KATIE MATZELL:
Katie Matzell is an up-and-coming singer and songwriter from Portland, Maine, who released her self-titled, debut EP at the start of 2018. In a recent review, The Deli Magazine said “Matzell’s voice, both effortless and simple, floats above a sea of washy keys and pocket grooves, calling comparisons to not only her influences of the past (Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin), but to her contemporaries—Norah Jones and Emily King immediately come to mind.”

ABOUT JASON SPOONER:
The band’s sound is a unique blend of roots, folk and blues focused around Jason’s tastefully rhythmic flat-picking style and the band’s air-tight
foundation. With laid-back vocals and an emotive, image-rich writing style all his own, Jason is a songwriter to watch. Think J.J. Cale meets Neil Young meets G. Love with dashes of Paul Simon and Kelly Joe Phelps. Sound bizarre? Hearing is believing!
