PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION

Toledo’s very own 9/11 Memorial honors all who lost their lives during the horrific attacks on American soil, Sept. 11, 2001. This memorial represents the nearly 3,000 souls who gave their lives.

The orientation of the memorial itself is designed as a sun dial. As you can see the outside of the memorial is numbered like a clock. Each year at 8:46 in morning, a shadow will cast by this flag pole crossing the 46 minute mark. The moment very much changed all of our lives forever. The moment Flight 11 flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

At 9:03 Flight 175 struck the South Tower.

Then at 37 minutes past the nine o’clock hour, Flight 77 struck the Pentagon. And finally, at 1003, Flight 93 crash in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

At each one of these locations is plaque honoring each one of those events.
