Stranger in the Alps
Stranger in the Alps is a music project based in Washington. Washington City Paper has called Stranger in the Alps the city's "Best Folk Troubador," although there are six people in the band. Very kind regardless. Stranger in the Alps sounds kind of like Iron and Wine, but with a shorter beard. They've called "young-but-weary," but they promise they're fun. Their new album, The Days Are Over Sooner, will be out later this year.
Letitia VanSant is a singer-songwriter based in Baltimore. Her lyrics are at once personally and politically relevant. Her distinct vocal style is fortified by sparse indie folk and Americana arrangements. BBC Radio calls her “very, very good - a fascinating new artist” and Bmore Art names her as one of the city’s strongest songwriters.
