MALO rose to fame as part of the Latin Rock explosion of the early 70’s along with many San Francisco Bay Area artists and groups including legendary Latin Rock icon Carlos Santana. These groups, led by the success and global acceptance of “Santana”, earned great prominence and came to establish the original American music art form known as Latin Rock. 

 

MALO band is led by original co-founding member and lead singer, Richard Bean the writer, co-composer and voice on the original recording of, “Suavecito.” Combined, the show features five decades of artists that were and are a key part of the core of the MALO music experience. The showcase maintains the element of historical authenticity due to this.

Emcee Philly Plowden, Ron Morey and Rocky Laporte

Philly Plowden is one of the most sound Actor/Comedian/Emcees working today. As a humorist his observations and revelations about the human condition, mixed with stories from his own life,takes an audience on a 200 mph trip that could stop at any point along the journey. Philly brings an old school style mixed with an edginess new school energy. Philly most recent theatrical work includes HBO’s Watchmen, NCIS New Orleans, Syndicated series Valor and TVOne’s Fatal Attraction. Philly served as a company spokesperson for Sweetbay Supermarkets chain, EasyFilter Air Filter and He has appeared in regional Commercials for Nascar, Orlando Honda Dealers and Cash America Pawn Shops. Philly now even has a successful podcast titled On The Steps Podcast reaching multiple countries throughout the world. As a comedian Philly travels throughout the United States headlining comedy clubs, corporate events and  churches. Philly served as opening act for such industry legends as Julio Iglesias, The late Robert Palmer,comedy legend the late Richard Jeni and The legendary miss Diana Ross.

Rocky LaPorte’s appeal comes from his everyman, streetwise style of comedy. Delivering laughs in his trademark Brooklyn accent, he has become one of the most sought after comedians in the country, and he just recently appeared on the season 8 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing! Rocky received 5th place out of 10 contestants. A former Chicago truck driver and dock worker, Rocky has accumulated a slew of performances throughout his career, including being a featured comic on Showtime‘s The Godfathers of Comedy, a special starring five of America’s most hilarious Italian-American comics. On the big screen, he has been seen in two Tim Allen movies – Crazy on the Outside and The Shaggy Dog.

Rocky traveled with Drew Carey to Iraq to entertain the troops and was seen on the Showtime special Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie. Rocky has filmed his own Comedy Central Presents special and was voted the network’s second most popular comedian in a nationwide poll. He has performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and appeared on A&E‘s Evening At The Improv and VH1‘s Stand-Up Spotlight, along with sitcom appearances on Cheers and his own NBC pilot called the Rocky LaPorte Show. Rocky has opened for the likes of Garry Shandling, Drew Carey, Tim Allen, Louie Anderson, Hootie and the Blowfish and the Righteous Brothers, just to name a few

Ron Morey’s energetic show earned him a nomination to the list of the top five comics in the country by the ENTERTAINMENT BUSINES JOURNAL. His show includes characters, music and impressions. This veteran funny man has kept people laughing from coast to coast for many years...In addition to his constant touring of America's premiere comedy clubs, (He is a long time regular of the Improvs in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe) Ron has spent much time and many tours entertaining our troops for the USO in places like Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Italy, and South Korea.
