On October 2nd we celebrate the life and memory of Ariel Board President Paul Simón when longtime family friend Elizabeth Pitcairn joins the OVS in a program of Mostly Mendelssohn, to be held at Wedge Auditorium in Point Pleasant, WV. This concert features Mendelssohn’s energizing and uplifting Symphony No. 4 and the much loved Concerto for Violin, Op. 64 under the baton of conductor Scott Woodard.
75 years ago at the end of World War II the music style of the Big Band era was flourishing and on November 6th Cleveland Pops conductor Carl Topilow will lead the OVS through a rousing romp of the stylings of Glenn Miller, Hoagie Carmichael, Irvin Berlin and other big band greats. Carl will invoke the spirit of Benny Goodman when he picks up his clarinet and joins in the fun at Wedge Auditorium in Pt. Pleasant.
We will be back in the Ariel with a new HVAC system for our December 4th annual Christmas Show! In this season of hope and renewal the OVS will warm your hearts with your favorite Christmas songs under the baton of Steven Huang. Traditional carols along with newer holiday songs will definitely awaken your holiday spirit. The annual Maestro for a Moment campaign will add to the night, so get your tickets early as it is always a sold out performance!
On March 26th take a musical journey to 19th century Paris when Phantom of the Opera star Geena Mattox joins the OVS for some Perfectly Parisian music. Soprano Carline Waugh joins in the fun as well and both sopranos finish off the evening with some delicious duets under conductor Steven Huang.
100 years ago a new age was dawning, the skirts were shorter, the money flowed freely and the the Roarin’ Twenties brought in a whole new style of American music. Be at the Ariel Opera House on April 23rd to celebrate an entire concert of brand new arrangements of Roarin’ Twenties music by Cincinnati Pops Principal Arranger Tim Berens featuring vocalist Mandy Gaines and pianist Michael Chertock. Be the first to hear these brand new arrangements as the concert will be recorded live by a Grammy winning recording engineer as he and his team capture it all live for public television and radio broadcast and a CD.recorded live for public radio broadcast and a CD.

Due to construction at the Ariel installing a state of the art air filtration and heating and cooling system, the Oct. 2 and Nov. 6 concerts will be held at the Lillian & Paul Wedge Auditorium in the Pt. Pleasant Jr./Sr. High School.
Masks are required to be worn by all staff and audience members at all performances until further notice.
