Inspired by real-life stories in the 1920’s, Radium Girls recounts a gripping story of courage in the face of great challenges. The play shares the story of Grace Fryer and the women she worked alongside, painting glow-in-the-dark watch dials for the U.S. Radium Corporation with a new miracle substance, radium - a substance that would ultimately take many of their lives. Not to be confused with the 2018 film of the same name, Radium Girls had its professional debut in the year 2000. The play continues to draw audiences moved by its poignant story of strength and character that shines through overwhelming adversity. The production explores compelling themes - the freedom found in integrity versus the self-destructive path of dishonesty for personal gain, the ability to forgive in the face of great hardship, and the importance of knowing and caring for those who are brought into our lives.
